sam and alli's hike from HECK

wishing for us to be at the top of the mountain already....

nope, still here...

this is where sam will be staying for her visit in arizona... perfect size for her.

this was all really no big deal.. it was soooo easy. i mean, c'mon! give us something to really hike!

even on top of camelback mountain, we still find time to practice our modeling shots

we are women, hear us ROAR!

oh, and by the way, excuse our skimpy outfits.... we tried the whole t-shirt thing... yeah right! 100 degrees later...

Progress - Physical and Personal!

Hi All! It's me, Rebekah. I had the greatest run last night! I ran for 23 minutes straight. I didn't even mean to! I just refuse to look at my timer until I've listened to 3 songs... and 3 became 5 and then 6. I can't believe it! I channeled my frustration and anger and apparently I have 23 minutes worth! I walked for 5 minutes and then I did something JEssica did. Bon Jovi's "Have a Nice Day" came on and I sprinted one more time around the park and up to my driveway! I call it the Screw Everybody Who Doesn't Believe I'm Running This Marathon Victory Lap! I think we should all do it!

Well after a weekend off I started running again tonight. I was able to go without the kids this time because Dustin was home in time and it was rainy today. But magically enough when I left to go running the rain stopped and the clouds disapated and it was beautiful and chilly. I love running when it is chilly. ANYWAY I went to the track this time so I could see exactly how far I was able to run. I ran my ten minute sets with the five minute walking in between and I actually ended up running two miles and walking about a half a mile! I was very excited by this. Starting to train for the marathon in June doesn't seem that far out of reach afterall. I just have to add that there was another girl walking the track and I felt really proud of myself as I jogged by her. I am a marathoner. hahaha Oh! also the boys lacrosse team was practicing on the field next to the track and I am sure they were all singing in their heads the song "Stacey's mom has got it going on". What teenage boy wouldn't love a chubby mother of three, with a face as red as a tomato?

Ok - I call my voice (it's me Roxy - that's my sexy runner's name) in aquamarine because it's the color of Jessica's eyes and it's the color of the ocean (well in some places!) and like the tide - I will be constant and steady in my endeavor to run this nasty marathon! So I had my first little bout of doubt (that could be another section... bouts of doubts) Ok - I'm making a new section now.

I have only run twice! The first time I ran I had lofty expectations - I guess I was in denial about my physical fitness! (Just like I'm in denial about my weight until I see myself in a bikini jumping on a trampoline in the bright sunlight!) I was only able to do the 5 min run/ 5 min walk x 3. I was sooo exhausted that I felt like I had just "run a marathon"! Ha, ha! Feeling a little discouraged, I waited 5 days to run again. But to my delight I was able to do the 10 min run/ 5 min walk x 2! There really is something to slow progress in the preliminary training. My advice is to keep moving! Endurance is built quickly if you don't over do! Read Chapter 9 for more on this topic!

Bouts of Doubts

I set out to run my second 10/5 on Thursday. It was 9'oclock and I had finally got everyone to bed. With phone, keys, and ipod in hand I began a slow pace jog around my park. Less than 1 minute into it I was wincing in emense pain. My knees are not handling this running as well as my psyche. I stopped and leaned against a recently added stop sign. How proffetic I thought to myself... barely getting started and "they" (those thoughts and obstacles out to sabbotage me, tonight that would be my knees and the physical STOP sign) are already telling me to STOP! Telling me I should quit - that I can't really accomplish this! I trudged home feeling discouraged and depressed... but then I remembered my Motrin 800's. I popped one and 1/2 hour later I began again. Still feeling the pain, but determined to finish. I did.
